14th SOUTH AFRICAN
NATIONAL KOI SHOW
The Show was held 21st and 22nd May 2005 at Cresta
Centre in Johannesburg. For weeks we have been
preparing for this event. Checklists, shopping lists
and more lists! Did we have everything packed for
this Grand Event? Setting up the stand was a nervous
event that took an entire day. Whew!! We remembered
everything – even the coffee!!

Luckily Collin and Billy Pretorius (ProKoi) had a half an hour spare to
discuss the future, breeding methods and whatnot - or this is what they claimed! |
Kiyoko Fujita (the Editor of the RINKO magazine
in Japan) was a welcome surprise visitor to our
stand. Over a cup of coffee (another one!) we had
time to thank her for the article she wrote about
our farm in the RINKO.
|
Servaas de Kock (after a lot of persuasion from
Lee-Ann) agreed to sign his book “Living Jewels”
of which there are but a few left after the show.
 |
The work began in all earnest on Saturday Morning early as the customers
and koi friends arrived. Young and old
came looking for that special koi! Young
as she may be there was no telling this customer that a Kohaku was a Sanke – OH
NO!! She knew what she was looking for.

|
LET THE JUDGING BEGIN!!
|
|
A group of international judges had quite a
task selecting the winners in each category! With the show held in English style our minds are still baffled at the
judges’ ability to compare koi without having them close to one another.
